Opening your SRG CDs

All of our patients are given a CD which contains digital images of their scans. Images can be viewed on Mac, Windows and (most) Linux operating systems. Our CDs contain your images in DICOM format. In order to open these files, you will need to use DICOM viewing software compatible with your operating system.

Microsoft Windows

Included on your CD provided by SRG, you will find InteleViewer, a feature-rich DICOM viewer to view your images with.

Mac OS X

Using OsiriX, a free DICOM viewer, Mac users are able to view, manipulate and store DICOM images from SRG CDs on their computers. OsiriX Lite is bundled with studies on all SRG CDs. The following video tutorial explains how to view your images on a Mac.

Referrers may wish to download the full application (~150MB Uncompressed), which is more comprehensive and feature-rich than the Lite version.

Ubuntu Linux

Aeskulap is a free, open source DICOM viewer, compilable on a number of Linux distributions. On Ubuntu, search for Aeskulap in the Package Manager.

Other Linux users may be interested in Kradview, which should work with any KDE-compatible Linux distribution. Fedora users should look at AMIDE.

iOS Support for DICOM files

If you use OsiriX on your Mac, you may be interested in running the OsiriX mobile app on your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad. With the app installed on your device, you are able to wirelessly transfer your studies saved on your Mac and then view, label and manipulate the images.
